About me.JPG

I am Mita.
I am my story.

Cultivating resilience from the start.

I was born in Kashmir, India—a land of stunning beauty, but also marked by conflict and change. Growing up there, I experienced firsthand how rapidly circumstances can shift, and how important it is to adapt and stay resilient.

Forced to leave my home due to political unrest, I learned early that nothing is permanent, and that change is an inevitable part of life. This lesson taught me the importance of never taking anything for granted and the value of resilience—a mindset that continues to guide me both personally and professionally.

  • Although I started my journey in Kashmir, life soon took me to different corners of India. I studied in New Delhi and worked across various cities in India. These early experiences laid the foundation for my passion for understanding diverse cultures and perspectives. My travels didn’t stop there. I ventured abroad to the United States and Europe, where I pursued a second master’s degree and lived across multiple countries. Each of these places helped shape my worldview, exposing me to new ideas and cultures, and fostering a deep appreciation for diversity and cross-cultural understanding.

  • Through my education, early career experiences, and international exposure, I realized that the world is interconnected, and the most impactful solutions—especially in sustainability and leadership—emerge when we collaborate across cultural and geographic boundaries. The ability to work together across different contexts, with diverse teams, is essential in today's globalized world. This has continuously shaped my approach to problem-solving and leadership. It has taught me how to bridge gaps, integrate diverse viewpoints, and drive innovation by fostering collaboration that transcends boundaries.

  • Professionally, I've spent over 15 years working with global businesses, helping them design and implement sustainable strategies that align with their values and create measurable, positive impact. Along the way, I discovered that sustainability, particularly in today’s world, is inherently ambiguous and complex. As a consultant working with many senior leaders across industries, I realized that no matter how much experience one has, dealing with challenges like sustainability often requires the ability to lead through chaos and uncertainty. This realization led me to pursue further training in leadership and deliver development programs, as I understood that effective leadership in complex environments requires adaptability, systems thinking, and resilience.

  • Another realization I had from my professional life is the lack of strong role models in leadership. I saw that to lead organizations effectively, one must lead by example. Leadership is not just about managing teams or driving strategy—it is about embodying values like ethics, empathy, and integrity. We need leaders who not only have the skills to navigate ambiguity but also the ethical grounding to steer organizations in the right direction. This led me to deeply believe in the need for leadership development that is not only focused on technical skills but also on developing ethical and empathetic leaders who can inspire and lead by example.

  • In addition to my professional journey, my personal life has provided its own lessons. After working relentlessly in the first decade of my career, I faced a major turning point when I burned out and suffered a miscarriage. I was fortunate to have supportive colleagues who helped me through this difficult time, but it made me realize that there is no systematic support structure in workplaces for individuals going through personal challenges. I connected with other women outside, who were facing similar struggles, and their experiences left them feeling isolated and depressed, with no proper channels for support. This strengthened my passion for creating inclusive workplaces that provide support for those going through life’s challenges and transitions.

  • Difficult times in my life made me introspect and reshape my own priorities. They forced me to confront what truly mattered: my health, my purpose, and the things that bring me joy and fulfillment. When my first son was born four years ago, I knew I had to align my professional life with my personal purpose. I took on a role with an early-stage startup focused on helping individuals find meaning in their work. This experience reaffirmed for me that purpose evolves over time, and to do your best work, you need to be fully aligned with it. When individuals live with purpose, it allows their work to not only have personal meaning but also contribute meaningfully to the broader world.

  • Becoming a parent has been the most profound transformation I’ve experienced in my life. It reshaped my priorities, strengthened my resilience, and gave me a new perspective on leadership. Motherhood taught me patience, adaptability, and the ability to navigate uncertainty with clarity and purpose. As a working mother, I’ve learned to balance competing demands, set boundaries, and lead with empathy and efficiency- skills that are just as essential in leadership. More than anything, motherhood reinforced my commitment to building a more inclusive and sustainable world. It deepened my belief that workplaces must evolve to support people through different life stages, ensuring that careers and caregiving can coexist. This fuels my passion for advocating for inclusive policies and mentoring leaders who bring their whole selves to work.

  • Today, I bring all of these lessons together in my work: helping organizations create purpose-driven, inclusive growth strategies, and guiding leaders and professionals to find deeper meaning and fulfillment in their careers. For me, sustainable success—whether for a business or an individual—comes when purpose is at the core of everything. This is why I am passionate about empowering both organizations and individuals to discover what truly drives them, and to create lasting, positive impact in the world.
